When we are assessing something, we are determining its worth or quality.
Assessment
Assessment is a process of evaluation. Assessment is the act of gathering information to determine whether or not an individual or a group meets a specific standard. For example, if you are being assessed on your ability to drive safely, it means that someone will be observing how well you perform on the road and then make conclusions based off their observations.
Assessment can also be used as a verb: “The teacher assessed my homework assignment before returning it.” In this case, assessment means “to evaluate.”
Assissment
Assessment is the process of collecting and analyzing information about an individual or group. It’s used to make decisions about an individual or group, but it’s not a judgement–it’s just information that can be used to make a judgement. For example:
- If you’re training for your first marathon, your coach will assess your fitness level and determine whether it’s safe for you to train for 26 miles (42 km). He’ll also assess where there are weaknesses in your running technique so he can help improve them before race day.
- A teacher may use assessments during their class periods as part of lesson planning; these might include quizzes at the beginning or end of each topic taught, homework assignments that require students’ understanding before they move forward with their studies, tests given at regular intervals throughout the semester (or year), etc…
There is a very big difference between assessment and assissment.
Assessment is an evaluation of students’ learning. Assessment can be formative or summative, depending on the purpose. Formative assessments are used to inform instruction by identifying strengths and weaknesses in student learning, whereas summative assessments focus on measuring how much students have learned at the end of an instructional unit or course.
In contrast to assessment, which refers to collecting data about what students know and can do in order for you as a teacher (and others) to inform your instruction, assissment refers specifically to how you go about collecting that data from your students
